Work-related aphorisms taken from the whole story that deals with Death, Reentry, Space and Work

“Wish you were here”, is ideal for testing the accuracy of conversion of brilliant analog recordings into digital format. It always helps, to test with songs one is familiar too! Welcome to the Machine is an all-time favorite to test the sound’s “stereoscopic imagery” i.e. how the sound is placed in space by the equipment. We used this album to test Delta-Sigma DAC’s suitability in car-audio applications.

He: One cannot fully cover one domain by omitting the other. I mean, you cannot talk about Reentry without mentioning Death, Work, and Space and vice versa! Reentry presupposes a space where you re-enter, requires work while it is being done as the next best thing to resurrecting a situation!

I know the importance of Space. I am risking Death for it since age 15 when I started smoking. You see, I do not smoke for the joy of smoking per se (my first puff was as bitter as anyone’s). Its initial sweet dizziness soon offered no further comfort other than craving relief. I, like most, smoke to claim some extra space. My puffs help me claim extra space and give me a break from what is constraining me. From the boring fellow student in high school to the boring colleague or the boring task. Smoking signals to others that I am reentering a break, a private mode, piss off! Or it can signal the creation of joint space between those I want to smoke together. It is not much different from fleeing one’s native land, at times risking death, for quality space to live and work.

But even computing, my Work, started with the intention to generate personal space. You see, when I started back in 1981, aged 12, most were unaware of what computing is; never mind what it can…
